PeoplePlus ParentsNext Plus and the Department of Employment were at Bankstown Central Shopping Centre last Friday for the ParentsNext pop-up shopping centre event.

Held across 10 locations in which the program is operating across Australia, these events help to raise awareness of ParentsNext as a specialised support program that helps parents with young children (under the age of 6) to become work-ready.

By attending this event, our team, including Case Manager Jade Carroll (pictured) were able to provide information packs, including new brochures with updates for the program to 70 interested members of the public.

The event also enabled interested members of the public to directly engage with a representative from the Department of Employment, with direct registration available for ParentsNext services on the day.

There was plenty of colour and goodies for kids as well, which included free face painting and ParentsNext gift bags containing balloons, kindly supplied by the Department of Employment.

ParentsNext Manager Pauline Ryan said, "Our attendance for this department event was important as there will be new changes for parents and their income support payments. This was a great way of also informing parents, who aren’t necessarily receiving payments from Centrelink, that there is a program like this available that can help and support them on their journey to employment.”

The staff at PeoplePlus ParentsNext Plus had a great day and were proud to be part of this great event. We would like to thank the Department of Employment, Bankstown Central Shopping Centre and all of the locals who attended in making this a fun and informative day for everyone.
