Having an extensive history of short-term employment, Ben had often relied on work through word-of-mouth or connections from friends. He was keen to work, but didn’t think that employment assistance through the jobactive program would help.
It wasn’t until Ben met with PeoplePlus Case Manager Patrick that things started to change.
Patrick assisted Ben with developing his résumé, structuring his job search routine, and referred him on to a Certificate III in Business combined with a Certificate II in Security Operations.
Somewhat fatefully, his circumstances changed. After meeting with Recruitment Consultant Tanya, Ben was presented with the opportunity to commence training that would lead to employment on Sydney’s Westconnex Project – one of the country’s largest motorway construction projects.
Ben’s support network at PeoplePlus worked in sync to ensure his success, including the provision of transport assistance, pre-employment medical and criminal history checks, and supplying him with work-related clothing.
After impressing staff with his professionalism throughout his training (including presenting a flawless attendance record), Ben was offered a full time position.
Additionally, Ben was lucky enough to meet New South Wales Premier Mike Baird at the Westconnex Training Academy Formal Launch.
Ben remains happily employed, and after more than a month remarks that he feels very secure in his current employment.
“I am extremely happy to be working on one of the biggest construction projects ever seen in Sydney,” Ben said.
